Peking University

aabPeking University is major research university located in Beijing. University was founded in 1898 and was originally known as Imperial University of Peking. Its campus called “Yan Yuan”. This university covers all general disciplines in China because it was the first national university of China and has become leading institution in China for higher education since its establishment. In the begging of its founding it also served as highest administration for education. Peking University has many diverse branches of learning like social sciences, pure & applied sciences, humanities, sciences of management and education. Its aim is to rank among world’s best university at the beginning of next century.

Chinese government put Peking University in agenda for the promotion of higher education and with the aim to build a world-class university in 21st century. Therefore in 2000 the merger of Peking University with Beijing Medical University strengthened its disciplinary structure. Peking University played vital role of pioneers in course of China’s modernization. University put great stress on traditional aspects like patriotism, democracy, progress and science along with its educational standards like diligence, precision, factualism and innovation which have been passed through generation to generation. Peking University is a national key university originally located in center of Beijing in “Forbidden City” and later on moved to former campus of “Yenching University” in 1952.

Current campus of university is located in northwest Beijing, in Haidian district which was concentrated many well known colleges and universities. Pecking University has outstanding faculty, with 53 members of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), 7 members from Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), and 14 members of Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). University has perfect combination of research and scientific subjects with training of personnel at high level of specialized knowledge and professional skills to fulfill country’s demand for social modernization. Peking University has 30 colleges and 12 departments, with 93 professions for undergraduates, 2 professions for Bachelor’s degree, 199 professions for Master candidates and 173 professions for Doctoral candidates.

There are 216 research institutes & research centers in Peking University. Two national engineering research centers, 81 key national disciplines and 12 national key laboratories increases the credibility of university. Peking University has beautiful blend of research, social & applied sciences because Chinese not only want to improve their education system but they also build up their nation on ethical basis.
