Stanford University The Leland Stanford Junior University, typically referred to as Stanford University or Stanford. This is a private research university situated in Stanford, California, United States. University was found in 1891 by California railroad tycoon Leland Stanford and named for his recently deceased son. Alumni of university have found companies Hewlett Packard, Electronic Arts, Sun Microsystems, Nvidia, Yahoo!, Cisco Systems, Silicon Graphics and Google. Stanford is ranked on second number among world universities by Academic Ranking of World Universities, and its undergraduate program is currently ranked fourth in nation by U.S News & World Report. In 2010 Stanford is second most selective academic institution in country with an acceptance rate of 7.1% (Most competitive than Harvard with a 6.9% acceptance rate) with most selective regular decision pool at 5.4%.

Stanford enrolls approximately 6800 undergraduates and 8300 graduate students from United States and around the world. The university is divided into various schools including:

The assets of university include a US$12.6 billion donation which is the third largest donation of any academic institution. Various other matters are handled by Faculty Senate made up of 55 elected representatives of faculty.

countryAustria has a free public school system and nine years of education are mandatory. School offers a series of vocational-technical and university preparatory tracks involving 1-3 additional years of education ahead of minimum obligatory level. The legal basis for primary and secondary education in Austria is School Law of 1962. The Federal Ministry of Education is responsible for funding and supervising primary and secondary education, which is administrated on provincial level by authorities of respective provinces. The country’s university system has been free until 2001, since then studies are subject to fees (€366 per term for Austrian students and about €700 per term for non-Austrians). In 2008 although government has decided to again eliminate fees for those students who complete their studies in minimum time and are Austrian citizens. 23 public and 11 private universities enjoy high degree of autonomy and offer a full spectrum of degree programs.
